Good week this week! ✅

You harvest grain.

(We harvest prices.)

Harvest is in full gear or for some it's right around the corner and we continue to work on some great Farmbucks improvements and features to help you capture specials and top market prices! So while you harvest your fields we harvest data for you. You know as well as I do that farmers always seem to be at the bottom of the totem pole. It doesn’t matter if it’s for accepting grain discounts or waiting for late trains, it can be extremely frustrating. Believe me when I say, I get it!

Thankfully, Farmbucks strives to put a little more power back in your hands and give you the treatment you deserve! Farmers have the right to know what price trends and current offerings are. Besides, your bottom line depends on it. Farmbucks is working hard for you and we appreciate every single one of your shout-outs of support.

Quick Note: In case you farm in the wetter parts of Alberta, AFSC has announced that they will be refunding hail insurance on crops that have been drowned out. Learn more here.

Around the farm: We finally sprayed glyphosate for pre-harvest weed control just yesterday in the wheat crops that needed it. There are still green areas that will likely be left out when we try combining them in about a week’s time. And remember, be aware of your pre-harvest interval to ensure your crops will be accepted by your preferred buyer.

Market Watch:
Markets are in the green!! Canola up $0.08 - $0.10/bu; showing bids $11.00/bu for nearby months upwards to $11.75/bu July 2021. CWRS up slightly about $0.04/bu. Yellow peas bid strength for off-combine is diminishing as elevators fill their requirements. Barley bids are unchanged for the most part.

There is speculation that Statistics Canada's earlier report of a 41.6 bu/ac yield estimate is too high. Canola is still in an impressive rally, although today it really didn't do much.

Wheat also found some speculative strength earlier this week on rumours that China was buying U.S. HRW and HRS but failed to rally any more after the rumours were confirmed. I saw CPSR prices $0.10/bu higher earlier this week than where they closed today. All wheat futures closed lower today but bids at closing are just slightly better than last Friday.

Weekly Price Changes:
- Canola bids are up $0.08/bu - $0.10/bu

- CPSR bids up $0.01/bu

- CWRS bids are up $0.04/bu - $0.06/bu

- Malt and Feed Barley bids are unchanged

- Yellow pea bids are unchanged but watch for specials
